Seeing God set the stage for His coming Son

Nothing is more important at Christmas than understanding Jesus as Immanuel. Throughout history, men have relentlessly pursued false and distant gods in vain attempts to earn their salvation. However, the Creator God of the Universe reveals in the entirety of His Word how He desires to dwell among His people. Unlike the world’s idols, He is the “with us” God–Immanuel. From walking with Adam and Eve in the garden, to dwelling in a tent in the wilderness with His people, residing in a temple in Jerusalem, to ultimately sending His very own Son, Jesus, in flesh to walk among men, God reveals to us that He desires to dwell among His people. Christmas light breaks through the darkened world of cheap imposters when God speaks in Isaiah 7:14, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” This is God’s promise of a Savior for the world. This is God’s promise of Christmas.
