Haggai video lectures

You don’t have to look very far to see the self-centeredness of someone who thinks, “It’s my money, my time, my plans, and my life!” Perhaps you need not look any further than the mirror. It is so easy to put ourselves first in our culture today, just as it was in the time of Haggai the prophet. After a 70-year exile to Babylon, God’s people returned to Jerusalem, concerned with their own paneled houses rather than rebuilding his temple. They did not care about his presence in the city or in their lives. To get their attention, God withdraw his blessing and they encountered tough times.

The ancient prophet Haggai reminds these former exiles to reprioritize their lives. It is an important reminder for us today as well. When God is at the center of our cities and our lives, he looks after our other needs. Haggai is a book that puts to death the self-centeredness of our thinking. It is timeless truth for today. It is God’s word for your life.
