A COMPLETE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

These are not ordinary workbooks.

Field Notes bring the text, its ancient world, and your response together on the same page.

Every volume combines detailed explanation, maps, timelines, historical images, structural analysis, sidebars, discussion questions, activities, and space to record your own observations. You do not merely read about the Bible. You learn how to study it.

ONE CONNECTED JOURNEY

01 · Survey the Land

Survey the Land

Find your bearings before you begin to dig.

Before excavation begins, Survey the Land establishes the world of the book: its author, date, audience, historical setting, geography, literary style, and place in Scripture. Maps, timelines, and background notes help you read as the first audience would have heard it—because we cannot understand what a passage means for us until we understand what it meant to them.

02 · Excavate the Site

Excavate the Site

Slow down. Trace the structure. Examine the evidence.

Each book is divided into Field Studies—complete units of thought that can be followed from beginning to end. You mark the text, trace its structure, investigate key words, and explore the culture, geography, and history that illuminate it. Then you ask what God is saying, what he desires from his people, and which enduring principles should shape life today.

03 · Analyze the Find

Analyze the Find

Place each discovery inside the grand story.

After the close reading comes the widest view. Analyze the Find places the book within the grand story of Scripture, traces how its message develops through the Bible, and considers how it culminates in Christ. The goal is not a pile of isolated facts, but a clear understanding of how each discovery belongs to God’s unfolding story—and transforms the way we live.

ACTIVE LEARNING

Discoveries

Where study becomes conversation and action.

Every Field Study ends with several pages of Discoveries. These are not filler questions. They help readers explain what they learned, connect it with the rest of Scripture, discuss it with others, remember it, pray through it, and carry it into faithful living.

01 · Discuss

Move from observation to understanding with a group.

02 · Write

Record questions, summaries, insights, and applications.

03 · Do

Complete maps, charts, comparisons, and visual exercises.

04 · Respond

Memorize, pray, and put biblical truth into practice.

INSIDE EVERY FIELD STUDY

See the depth before you buy.

The strongest reason to choose Field Notes is inside the books. The page should show the maps, timelines, close reading, historical context, exercises, and final biblical synthesis—not ask visitors to imagine them.

“Leading a group through a book of the Bible using Sacra Script’s Bible studies is a rich and rewarding experience. I have never seen anything like these studies. They’re rich in detail yet accessible to everyone. From a skeptic who has never been exposed to the Bible to faithful saints who have studied for years, these Bible studies enlighten the teaching of the Bible.”

Mary-Lynn Speck

Women’s Bible Teacher

“If you want quality biblical content presented with quality creativity, then the biblical and theological materials being produced by our friends at Sacra Script should be on your desks or available at your fingertips through electronic media. Your Bible will become more meaningful and your confidence in its divine Author will be enhanced at every turn.”

Dr. Mark L. Bailey

Chancellor, Dallas Theological Seminary

“As a pastor, I am responsible for overseeing the Biblical content that my church is taught. Rarely are there Bible studies that actually teach what the Scriptures mean. Sacra Script is an exception. Their Bible studies literally help feed my flock in a meaningful and helpful way. Sacra Script Bible studies have become an essential part of my ministry.”

James McConley

Lead Pastor, Friendship Church

THE LONG JOURNEY

One Bible. Sixty-six books. A lifetime of discovery.

These five studies are the beginning of a growing Field Notes library designed to guide readers through every book of the Bible. Each future expedition will follow the same method: enter the ancient world, excavate the inspired text, and understand how that book contributes to God’s grand story centered in Jesus Christ.

Begin with Philippians, James, Galatians, Obadiah, or Haggai—and continue the journey as new Field Notes are completed.
