Epoch 1 — The Beginning
From creation to scattering
Genesis 1–11
God creates a good world, human rebellion corrupts it, sin spreads, and God judges yet preserves humanity, preparing the way for Abraham.
Creation to approximately 2000 BC
Epoch 2 — The Patriarchs
From a promise to the fathers
Genesis 12–50
God binds his redemptive purpose to a chosen family and preserves his covenant promises through human weakness, barrenness, conflict, and providence.
Approximately 2200-1600 BC
Epoch 3 — The Deliverance
From a family to a people
Exodus–Deuteronomy
God redeems Israel from bondage, covenants with them, and dwells among them, yet their rebellion reveals the need for a deeper and final deliverance.
Approximately 1600-1400 BC
Epoch 4 — The Conquest
From tribes to a nation
Joshua–1 Samuel 7
God gives Israel the land, but incomplete obedience and repeated apostasy reveal the need for faithful leadership and a righteous king.
Approximately 1400-1000 BC
Epoch 5 — The Kingdom
From monarchy to division
1 Samuel 8–2 Chronicles
God establishes Davidic kingship and the Temple, but the kingdom fractures, exile approaches, and hope increasingly centers on a faithful Son of David.

Epoch 6 — The Exile
From ruin to rebuild
Ezra–Malachi
God judges his people without surrendering his purposes, rules over the nations, preserves a remnant, and promises a deeper restoration.
Approximately 600-400 BC
Epoch 7 — The Silence
From the Old Testament to the New
Malachi–Matthew
Although the prophetic voice grows quiet, God preserves his people and prepares the political, cultural, and religious world for the coming Messiah.
Approximately 430-1 BC
Epoch 8 — The Messiah
From incarnation to ascension
Matthew–John
The eternal Son enters history, embodies God’s kingdom, fulfills Israel’s story, dies for sin, rises from death, commissions witnesses, and ascends.
Approximately 5 BC-AD 35
Epoch 9 — The Church
From the Spirit to the spreading
Acts 1–15
The ascended King sends his Spirit, forms his church, advances the gospel through persecution, and unites Jews and Gentiles as one people by grace.
Approximately AD 30-50
Epoch 10 — The End
From Jerusalem to the nations
Acts 16–Revelation 22
Christ carries the gospel through suffering to all peoples, returns to judge evil, raise the dead, renew creation, and dwell forever with his people.
Approximately AD 50-100; concluding with the promised new creation
Dates follow the completed course book. They are approximate and may overlap; the final Epoch also looks ahead to the promised new creation.

Can I use the notes without an internet connection?

Yes. Every enrollment includes the same video course and complete digital notes.
Can I print the digital book?
The included PDF is an on-screen study edition. Printing is disabled, and printing or redistribution is not permitted under its license. Perfect-bound and coil-bound editions are available separately.
I enrolled previously. Do I need to purchase the notes?
No. The digital notes are included for accounts with current access to Tracing His Story.
Can I give the PDF to my class?
An individual enrollment does not include permission to distribute the PDF to others. Contact Sacra Script about your group’s needs.
Can I buy the book without enrolling?
Yes. Choose a binding and quantity in the printed-book panel. A printed-book purchase alone does not include the video course or digital PDF.
What is the difference between the bindings?
Both contain the same course material. Perfect-bound is a traditional paperback for reading and keeping in your library. Coil-bound opens flat beside the video while you write.
