When we think of the story of Christmas, usually it’s a mixture of winter snow, colored lights, and maybe a baby in the manger. In Scripture we tend to focus on a handful of verses from Luke chapter 2 that tell the story of an unwed couple crisscrossing their country to pay tax only to be abandoned by everyone because there’s nowhere to stay.

The writers of the New Testament letters looking back on the birth of Christ did not view this story as one of many fascinating tales withing God’s Word. Rather they referred to Jesus’ birth as the “end of the ages” or “last days.” The story of Christmas is the story in Scripture. The coming of the Christ child in flesh is the singular event on which all of history hinges. The massive story climaxes on the very precipice of time itself. This grand narrative is worthy of your undivided attention especially in the midst of Christmas busyness.

Grab your Bible, a warm cup of cocoa and find a nice cozy spot to immerse yourself in the Story of Christmas.
