Christmas did not begin with a baby in a manger. Long before shepherds heard angels sing and wise men followed a star, God was already weaving the story of Christmas through dusty prophets, barren couples, failed kings, and long years of silence. The Story of Christmas invites you to trace that story from its first faint hints in Genesis to its breathtaking fulfillment in Bethlehem, where the eternal Son of God took on flesh in a musty stable.

In this eight-part series, you will see how the promises given to Abraham, the covenants with David, and the prophecies of Isaiah all converge in one child who is both King and Savior. You will watch the darkness of Israel’s history give way to a great light as God breaks a four-hundred-year silence with the cries of two miracle babies, John and Jesus. You will enter the lives of Zachariah and Elizabeth, Mary and Joseph, and discover how God’s grace meets ordinary people in confusion, fear, and humility, then turns their stories into instruments of his redemption.

Key Verse

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.

Isaiah 9:6–7

Along the way, you will explore why the virgin birth matters, why the genealogy in Matthew is good news for broken people, and why pagan scholars from the east bowed before a Jewish child. From the first promise of a rescuer to the worship of the Magi, you will see that Christmas is not a sentimental decoration on the edge of the Christian faith. It is the decisive moment when the global and eternal King stepped into our world to save sinners, fulfill every promise, and invite all nations to worship him.

If Christmas has ever felt small, shallow, or familiar, this series will help you see it with new eyes. Walk the road from dusty prophets to a musty manger, and let the Spirit deepen your awe at the God who writes himself into the story so that you can find your place in his.
